Bassist Mike Murphy decided early on that the largest instrument must be the best one, and life has never been the same for him! His love of the acoustic bass has led to European orchestra tours, to performances with all sorts of artists from Renee Fleming to Dokken, and to a strong dislike of stairways and narrow doors.
His teachers have included Ken Baldwin of the Oregon Symphony and Bruce Bransby of Indiana University, as well as jazz maverick Glen Moore. Mike puts this varied instruction to use with 3 Leg Torso, where high levels of musicianship are used to produce controlled chaos, and also with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, where fine musicianship is used to produce music.
